Circle Time and Restorative PracticesTuesday, 23 March 2010, 9:15 am - 3:00 pmAt: Treacy Centre, 126 The Avenue, Parkville, Vic Time: 9.15 am - 3.00 pm - Tuesday 23rd March 2010 Cost: $120 Includes tea/coffee, morning tea, lunch and a copy of the book 'Restorative Practices in Classrooms' Circle Time and Restorative Practices - with Marg Armstrong Fun, highly interactive, non-threatening and activity based workshops. Participants will use the Circle Time method to introduce the restorative approach to relationshop building. Restorative Practices: are those practices that involve development and enhancement of relationships in schools, the teaching of conflict resolution and other problem solving skills. It also involves classroom management that is participatory, democratic and focuses on problem solving. These practices require a shift in philosophy from the more punitive of behaviour management measures to one of more support for the entire community. Restorative practices help students learn from their mistakes, reconcile and resolve problems with others. The workshop includes:
About the presenters: Marg Armstrong is a very popular and experienced presenter of workshops on restorative justice. She has trained and mentored many schools who have successfully implemented a restorative approach. Glenda Johnston is an educational psychologist, teacher and presenter who has been published extensively in Australia and overseas. She enjoys sharing her enthusiasm for Circle Time.
