(Teachers, yrs 3-4)
The authors have identified the key elements that help young people to develop empathic feelings and behaviour. It is written for middle to upper level primary school-aged children and has a set of experiential activities, worksheets and reflective questions that encourage young people to explore different elements of empathic behaviour.
The book includes sessions about: noticing, understanding, acting, respecting, feeling, bonding, helping, sharing and comforting.
These themes are tied together in the final activity, ‘The Circle of Friendship’. This activity builds empathy into the day-to-day operation of the classroom in a highly motivating and visual way.
