(full color and storybook, plus CD-ROM with activities)
A Day in the Life of Raindrop was commissioned by Odyssey House Victoria. Odyssey House Victoria provides a range of services for people suffering from addiction problems. The intention of the book was to develop a story with which the children of Odyssey’s clients might identify. However, we at Inyahead believe Raindrop is a character that all children will connect with. Rather than portraying Raindrop as a victim, the author has portrayed her as a hero with responsibilities beyond her years. The book is realistic and humorous, and we encourage teachers to explore the themes raised.
The storybook comes with a CD rom that includes activities about; What happened? Who is in the story? How do you feel? What is the story about? Imagining. Thinking up alternatives.
The activities will help children to build meaning, make comparisons with their own experiences, and to understand, and perhaps empathise with the experiences of Raindrop.
(NB: All monies from the wholesale price of this resource go to Odyssey House Victoria.)
